Installation and Activation

You can install SOLIDWORKS on any workstation as long as OS is compatible with respective version of SOLIDWORKS.

You will need to check on the following before starting the installation

  1. SOLIDWORKS Serial Number
  2. Full Installation file(or Setup file) copied to workstation to be installed
  3. Administrative Access to run installation
  4. Working internet connection (for license activation. Recommended but not compulsory)

Activation/ Re-activation

Activation Window will pop up on first install of SOLIDWORKS.

Step 1: Then select the middle option ‘Activate/Reactivate your product license(s)’ and click next

Deactivation

Standalone license will be only available on one workstation once the license has been activated.

In the occasion of migrating to a new workstation, deactivation is required.

To De-activate SOLIDWORKS standalone license.

Step 1: Go to SOLIDWORKS 20XX > Help > Deactivate Licenses

Activation/ Re-activation

Locate which workstation that the SolidNetWork License Manager Server (SNL) is already running the SNL that you need to activate/reactivate it.

Internet connection is required but not compulsary

Step1: Go to Start > SolidNetWork License Manager Server 20XX > Select Modify

Step 2: Then select the middle option ‘Activate/Reactivate your product license(s)’

Step 3: When reactivating, you will be prompted if you are using a Firewall; check the option “A firewall is in use on this server”. Make sure the port number is input as 25734.

Step 4: Click the Next button to select the serial numbers that you want to activate. Enter your email address.

Deactivation

When there is a migration of server, you will need todeactivate the license and relocate the license to the new server workstation. Locate which workstation that the SolidNetWork License Manager Server (SNL) is currently running the SNL.

Enhancement Request

As an active subscription customer, you are eligible to create an Enhancement Request in Customer Portal.

STEP 1: Log in to customer portal and select Enhancement request (ER).

STEP 2: Search for any existing Enhancements that fits your current situation. You will be able to create an ER at the bottom of the request.

STEP 3: Product Definition Management and Development reviews each and every enhancement to assess their practicable and implementation difficulty to see when and if they may be able to integrate it. It’s important to note that not every enhancement will make it into the software and that some, due to the scope of the implementation, may take a few years to make it in.
