How do I install a new SOLIDWORKS Networks License?

SOLIDWORKS Network License Manager (Server)
You can install SOLIDWORKS SolidNetwork License Manager Server on any workstation as long as OS is compatible with the respective version of SolidNetwork License Manager. You will need to check the following before starting the installation.

  1. SOLIDWORKS Serial Number
  2. SolidNetwork License Manager Installer file (part of complete installer file)
  3. Administrative Access to run installation
  4. Working internet connection (for license activation. Recommended but not compulsory for installation)

Step 1. From the SolidNetwork License Manager Installation file (swlicmgr), double click on the Setup.exe program file.

Step 2. Under License Information, key in all the Network Licenses(separated with a coma) and click Next to proceed with the installation.

Note: SolidNetwork License Manager can be installed on a user PC but is highly not recommended.

How do I do a standard new NETWORK INSTALLATION for Client/User PC?

You can install SOLIDWORKS on any workstation as long as OS is compatible with the respective version of SOLIDWORKS. You will need to check the following before starting the installation.

  1. SOLIDWORKS Serial Number
  2. Server PC name or IP address
  3. Full Installation file(or Setup file) copied to workstation to be installed
  4. Administrative Access to run installation
  5. Working internet connection (for license verification. Recommended but not compulsory)
  6. User PC connected to the same network as Server PC

Step 1. From the Installation file, double click on the Setup.exe program file

Step 2. Under Type of Installation, select Individual (on this computer) and click Next.

Step 3. Under Serial Number, enter the SOLIDWORKS Serial Number (and any other product serial number to be installed together in this installation) and click Next.
A valid Serial Number must be input as it will be authenticated before proceeding to Step 4.
Click Next to proceed.

Step 4. Under Summary, select “CHANGE” for Products and select the product to be installed. If the internet is enabled, selection will be automatically made base on license entitlement.
Select Back to Summary.

Step 5. Under Summary, select “CHANGE” for Download Options. If using Setup file downloaded from Customer portal, you will need to do a Download and install. Else, use the Install only option.
Uncheck the “Use the background downloader for future service pack” option.
Select Back to Summary

Step 6. Under Summary, select “CHANGE” for Installation Location.
Select Browse under Installation Location and make changes to default installation location by adding a version of the installation.

For Example when installing SOLIDWORKS 2018:
Default Location: C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp
New Location: C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp 2018

Click OK to change Installation Location and select Yes to create installation directory.

Select Back to Summary.

Step 7. Under Summary, select “CHANGE” for Toolbox/Hole Wizard Options.
Select Browse under Installation Location and make changes to default installation location by adding a version of the installation.

For Example when installing SOLIDWORKS 2018:
Default Location: C:\SOLIDWORKS Data
New Location: C:\ SOLIDWORKS Data 2018

Click OK to change Installation Location and select Yes to create Toolbox directory.
Select Back to Summary.

Step 8. Accept the Terms and Conditions and click on Install Now to proceed.

Step 9. A pop-up window (SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager) will prompt for the Port number and Server Name. Default port to access SolidNetwork License Manager is 25734. Input should be as follow: @.

For Example:
25734@ServerPC (by PC name)
or
25734@100.10.1.10 (by IP address)

Click OK to proceed with the installation.
